The Wounded Spirit - part 7

Uncategorized Nov 11, 2022

Today we will finish our discussion of the wounded spirit.  I have asked the Holy Spirit to search our hearts and minister healing to any “wounded residue” He finds as we complete our study.

I think we all know what happens with a wound that is never allowed to heal. Over time it goes deeper and deeper into our heart of hearts until it can actually affect the health of our physical heart or other organs. We have all heard of people who experience sickness, disease, and other life torments as a result of the poison spread through the wounding process. Jesus said that He came to bring life and life more abundantly. He came to heal our wounds and help us overcome pain in our life’s journey.

Jesus said in Luke 4: 18 that He came to heal the brokenhearted. Psalm 34: 18 says that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and He saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 147: 3 tells us that God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

Maybe you have developed a wounded spirit. You may have experienced what I call “a roller coaster ride.”  One day you are up and the very next day you are down. Sometimes you can feel like you are doing fine and then someone says something to you and you are down in the dumps again.

There are so many people today labeled as bi-polar, depressed, or mentally unstable. It is highly possible that many of these people may be exhibiting these symptoms due to wounded spirits. They need Jesus to touch their lives and heal the wounds lodged in their hearts. God has healed me from so many things:  from shame, not being able to sing, the pressures of having to be an adult before I was even a teenager, mistakes I made, childhood trauma, and so much more. I have found that His grace is sufficient for all I need.

The Lord desires that we are healed! Scriptures remind us that a wounded spirit no one can bear. A wounded spirit exhausts us and emotionally tears us to pieces. It keeps us from our full potential in God.

The following healing prayer is for you. As you pray this prayer aloud, may the Lord heal your heart. Let His Spirit minister healing balm to all your wounds.

Before you pray, take some time to think about what happened to you and what caused wounding to your heart. Forgive those people who harmed you by saying aloud,

“Lord, I choose to forgive _______________ (name their names) for ___________________ (name the actions that wounded you).”

Now pray aloud this prayer for healing of a wounded spirit:

Heavenly Father, I come before you today, recognizing that I have a wounded spirit. I need Your love, mercy, and grace to cover me and to heal me. Holy Spirit, touch me now and completely heal that part of me that has been wounded. Restore me to the joy of my salvation and fill me up to overflowing with Your love. I receive Your precious touch now. Amen.

Mothers of Nations, I celebrate with you the healing of your wounded heart right now.  Glory to God for His mercy and goodness towards each of us today!
