The Word - part 6

Uncategorized Apr 29, 2022

Today we will be finishing our study of symbols of the Word of God.  I pray that you have been blessed over these past six weeks as we have more closely looked at these comparisons.

THE WORD IS LIKE A PEARL.

Pearls are precious gems formed in darkness. They have the colors of the rainbow when brought to light. Beautiful and royal to look at, pearls need to be treasured. The Bible says in Matthew 7: 6 (NIV), "Do not give dogs what is sacred;  do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn and tear you to pieces."

The Word is not something that we should throw out to anyone at any time. Not everyone will be excited or even willing to hear it. There is always timing involved for fruit to manifest.  For many people in Arab nations with a Muslim religious dictator, the Word is not allowed in the country. If a Believer living in that nation were to take the Word and cast it before them, the Believer most likely would be killed.

Once while in India I decided to go hand out some gospel tracts in the streets of a small village. Our van was parked by a small store and our leader was picking up some groceries. He did not know I was doing this, as he was already in the store when I left the vehicle. Within twenty minutes a crowd had gathered around our leader and they were very upset about my tracts. Without realizing it, I had put tracts in a series of Muslim stores along that street. The man who was the crowd’s spokesman was furious. We almost had a riot on our hands.

It is not that these people should not have been given a tract, but I had not used wisdom in my actions. Not everyone will be thrilled with the Word of God. I learned from that experience to always ask God first if the area, the person, or the situation is prepared to receive the Word or not.  That is when the Word will fall on fertile ground and produce a pearl of blessing.

HIS WORD REIGNS SUPREME!

Now as we conclude, we must acknowledge that God’s Word reigns supreme!  A godly person loves the Word of God and to him or her, it is the daystar risen in their heart. It is the star that shows the way to the Son of Righteousness. The Word has promises, blessings, reproofs, oils, and balms for us all. The Word is like spice. It adds flavor and taste to our life. When the Word is preached, either the oil flows out, the fragrance comes, or the spices are enhanced.

Mothers of Nations, in our walk with God, we learn to start with the Word. We must stick with the truth of the Word at all times, stand with the Word in every circumstance, and shout with the Word to celebrate our victories and the defeats of our enemies. If we do this, we can honestly say, "Thy Word have I laid up in my heart that I might not sin against thee."  (Psalm 119: 11 ASV)

The Word of God is measureless and unlimited in scope and practically applicable to our lives. What are some of the other marvelous characteristics of the precious Word of God to add to those we have already discussed?

  • God’s Word will not return void.

Isaiah 55: 11 (NKJV)  So shall My Word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please and it shall prosper in the place to which I sent it.

  • God’s Word will be performed.

Jeremiah 1: 12 (NKJV) Then the Lord said to me, You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.

  • God’s Word is perfect.

Psalm 18: 30 (KJV)  As for God, His way is perfect; the Word of the Lord is tried.

  • God’s Word is everlasting.

I Chronicles 16: 13 (KJV)  Be ye mindful always of His covenant; the Word which He commanded to a thousand generations.

  • God’s Word is pure.

Psalm 12: 6 (KJV)  The Words of the Lord are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace of earth purified seven times.

  • God’s Word is right.

Psalm 33: 4-5 (KJV)  For the Word of the Lord is right; and all His works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment:  the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord. By the Word of the Lord were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.

Indeed the Word of God is a treasure beyond measure!

Mothers of Nations, can we make a fresh commitment right now to read, study, memorize, and hide His Word in our hearts? Let’s set God’s Word in a place of highest prominence in our lives so that we will be fruitful laborers in His end-time Kingdom!
