Today we will start a new discussion here on the Mothers of Nations Blog. I would like to examine the topic “The Power of God’s Love” because in the challenging days that we live in, it is highly important to both KNOW and EXPERIENCE the love of our Father God in our lives. It is also necessary to be equipped to share that wisdom and understanding of His love with those we meet. People today need to experience God’s love and be drawn to Him.
The word “love” is used in so many different ways in our society today. For example, I can say that I love Red Savoy pizza. I also love warm weather. When we send emails and letters, we often sign off with the word love and then our name. In some ways the very common use of the word love may tend to dilute in our minds the true depth that embodies the fullness of God’s love.
So our question today is this: Do we really understand or comprehend the depth and power of God's love? Paul wrote to the Ephesians in an effort to help them understand the "power of God's love." In Ephesians 3:16-21 (NKJV) Paul's prayer was that our inner man could grasp and comprehend the greatness of the love of our God.
16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
In verses 17 and 18 Paul is praying that we would be able to experience God’s love in multiple ways.
That we could grasp it.
That we could experience it.
That we would have the mental capacity of apprehension to seize and hold onto it.
That we could comprehend it: the breadth, the length, the height, the depth.
Mothers of Nations, our God IS love and He has been loving forever and ever.
In verse 19 Paul desires that we may come to know, really know, God’s love through our relationship with Christ and His love for us. The love of Jesus for us surpasses, goes beyond knowledge. In truth His love towards us is over and above our ability to understand it.
As Paul prayed, I also pray for you now that all of us may experience this incredible love of God in our lives. May His love we experience:
Next week we will continue to dig deeper into this topic of The Power of God’s Love. I pray that you experience His great love for you this very week in ways that you never realized!
