The Doubt Robber -- part 3

Uncategorized Sep 15, 2023

Last week we looked at eight ways that doubt can rob or steal from the quality and value of our spiritual lives. Yes, DOUBT IS A ROBBER! If you did not read last week’s blog entry, I would encourage you to do so before continuing with today’s discussion.

So recognizing the enemy’s strategy to get us to doubt and the many disadvantages of living a doubt-filled life, how do we as believers overcome doubt? Let’s consider these five possible strategies to defeat "the doubt robber."

  1.  Determine our personal strengths and weaknesses and then get into the Word of God to change what needs to be changed. Mothers of Nations, let’s look carefully at ourselves because life reveals weaknesses and strengths. We need to be honest and truthful with our current situations so that we can make progress and grow stronger in our faith.
  2.  Put our faith in the Lord. This means putting faith in God and not in ourselves, our family, our money, our ministry, etc. Don’t complain but rather exchange complaints for restraints. Ouch! Complaining is not really a great demonstration of our faith level, is it! This exercise involves renewing our mind and thinking the way that God thinks. (Philippians 4: 18) This takes time and effort, but it is highly effective!
  3.  Identify ourselves as believers in Christ. Decree and declare who we are in Christ and believe it, walk in it, and demonstrate it. It is highly important to intimately know the Holy Spirit, His voice, heart and ways. Again, this takes effort but it also brings victory over doubt and fear.
  4.  Recognize that the devil and his demons hate us. We can’t give them an audience in our mind and life. The devil is a liar so why do we ever listen to him?!
  5.  Declare what we want … and go for it! Action will produce the results of victory!

And as a final thought, consider this acrostic:

D = Dumb

O = Observations

U = Until

B = Believing

T = Triumphs

Mothers of Nations, let's press forward in Christ and not allow "the doubt robber" to steal from us any longer!

Be so very blessed,

DON’T DOUBT  (a poem by Dr. Sharon Predovich)

God called me to faith a long time ago,

I’m telling you this so that you will know.

His Word is true and available to all.

His Word is our guide so we won’t stumble or fall.

Doubt is our enemy, a devil that lies.

He attacks us in mind and slips into our sighs.

He robs us of faith and steals our pure joy,

And throws us around like a baby doll toy.

And so we must tell all doubt to leave our life,

Because doubt is not to be our husband or wife.

Let’s believe in God’s Word, His Spirit and love,

And walk in faith along with our Savior above.

No doubt, no fear, no unbelief is allowed.

It’s only to God’s truth that we must completely vow.
