The Anointing - part 8

Uncategorized Jun 23, 2023

Mothers of Nations, the anointing of God is so precious. It is what makes us so unique, effective, and powerful in God’s kingdom.  Like a river of life or a stream of love, the anointing flows from God to us, from us to God, and from us to others.

If we want to move in the anointing, there are several things we must know and do. First of all, we must be born again.  The Bible tells us that if we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and invite Him into our hearts, we are saved.  We become a new creation in Christ Jesus with the gift of eternal life.

Romans 10:9-10 NKJV “…that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV)

In Acts 2 we see there is a second step in our relationship with the Lord where the Spirit baptizes us.  We first receive peace from God, knowing we are accepted in the beloved and redeemed.  Then we receive power from God to be His witnesses and live the Christian life.  As we do so, the anointing of God is now at work in us!

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.  But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.”   1 John 2:20, 27 (NKJV)

This unction, or anointing, begins to teach us.  We learn the ways of God quickly.  Growing in the anointing will take learning to obey the Holy Spirit’s commands.  As I was learning about the anointing, God allowed many experiences to come my way.  Once I was praying for someone and she fell on the floor. Having never seen someone “slain in the Spirit,” it frightened me.  I learned, though, and God sent people to teach me about this phenomenon.

Seeing someone fall when you pray could be an ego boost as well, so God has to teach you that it is not your power and it is not needed all the time to prove His presence.  What is important is His Word.

Sometimes being slain in the Spirit is a wonderful time to just rest in the Lord.  There have been times where I have seen people delivered as they were slain in the Spirit.  They started to shake, yell, roll, or manifest in some other way as the demon left.

Another time when I was in the Philippines the anointing was so strong that after I spoke on the topic of angels, people were falling over and going into visions.  God actually demonstrated the very things we had taught that night in the sermon.  Angels were in the room touching people.  We saw balls of light flying like lightning.  The anointing in that place was electric!

There are other times when His presence fills a room like a cloud.  Once I saw a minister reach up into that cloud, grab a piece of it (air), and place it on someone.  The man was instantly baptized in the Holy Spirit. The anointing can fill a room to the point where you literally feel the air is thick.

We have felt the anointing in our church like a river.  There have been times when it is at our ankles, then our knees.  We keep praying for a flood!

There have been people who appear to have halos or a glow about them as the anointing rests on them.  The laughter anointing can become so strong that people roll on the floor, laugh, giggle, and get drunk in the Spirit.  Manifestations of His anointing are countless.

Did you know that the anointing can also be heard?  In the upper room they heard a rushing wind.  Recently my friend had an angel visitation that woke her up.  She was in a deep sleep when she heard the sound of double doors opening and a powerful wind.  When she reached out and touched the angel, she received a divine impartation.

The anointing varies in depth, as well as length.  Sometimes it is so deep you cannot move.  Once I was preaching in a meeting in Canada and no one could get near me at the altar time without flying back because the anointing was so thick.  Ushers had to hold me up and escort people to me so I could pray.

The previous night’s meeting had been difficult as unbeknownst to me, the church that had invited me was in a church split. One lady responsible for organizing the conference had stayed up all night praying requesting God to pour out His Spirit in power.  He heard her prayers and the anointing on that next night’s meeting was more powerful than anything I had ever seen.  Women had visions, words of knowledge and saw their own sins.  The last day we were united in spirit and truth due to the power and work of the anointing.

As we close today, what have been some of your experiences of God’s anointing in your own life?  Can you relate to any of the examples we have talked about today?  Every day is fresh and new in His presence.  Let’s ask Him now to flow in His anointing today!
