Lifeline - Part 3

Uncategorized Jan 26, 2024

Today we will conclude our discussion with some of the thoughts that the Holy Spirit shared with me in my exploration of the word LIFELINE that was placed on my heart recently.

First and foremost, as believers, what (Who) is our Ultimate Lifeline? Of course our Ultimate Lifeline is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

Hebrews 6: 17-19 (NLT)

17 God also bound himself with an oath, so that those who received the promise could be perfectly sure that he would never change his mind. 18 So God has given both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. 19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.

Mothers of Nations, this is an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God. Jesus Christ, our Ultimate Lifeline, is our essential connection for survival, life support, and sustenance throughout our life’s journey.

Let’s relook at Hebrews 6: 18-20 from the Message version.

18-20 We who have run for our very lives to God have every reason to grab the promised hope with both hands and never let go. It’s an unbreakable spiritual lifeline, reaching past all appearances right to the very presence of God where Jesus, running on ahead of us, has taken up his permanent post as high priest for us, in the order of Melchizedek.

The resurrection of Jesus is the door (the LIFELINE) to all that God has for us!

John 15: 1-11 (NKJV)

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.”

Because our Ultimate LIFELINE is Jesus Christ, we do not need to fear – anything or anyone.

We should not be afraid:

  • Of sudden terror or trouble.

Proverbs 3: 25-26 (NKJV)

25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; 26 For the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.

We never know what trials we may face but regardless of what comes our way, Jesus is always our LIFELINE.

  • When our body fails us.
  • When we feel troubled.

Proverbs 18: 10 (NKJV)

The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.

  • When we need strength.

Psalm 46: 1 (NKJV)

God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.

  • When we are facing desertion, loneliness, or despair.

I encourage you to investigate the story of survival as written about in the novel “Robinson Crusoe” by Daniel Defoe. In the story Crusoe finds a Bible and discovers the following verse.

Psalm 50: 15 (NKJV) Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

As he reads on through the Bible, he discovers his need to repent and be rescued from himself first. Possibly this story speaks to the reality of our lives as well?

  • When we feel inadequate, incapable, and afraid.

When we experience these kinds of feelings, we need to let Scripture speak to us, that which is written down.

Proverbs 30: 5-6  Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words, lest He rebuke you, and you be found a liar.

In 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 Paul told Timothy to get back to what really mattered. Get back to the Bible!

I pray that as I have shared these various thoughts about the word LIFELINE, you have found encouragement and comfort. Yes, Jesus Christ is our Ultimate Lifeline and He is ready to “throw” us all that we need no matter the life circumstances we walk through. His provision saves us, keeps us, delivers us, heals us, and meets every and any need we experience in our Christian walk.

Be forever blessed in the Name of our Ultimate Lifeline, Jesus Christ. Amen!
