Lifeline - Part 2

Uncategorized Jan 19, 2024

Today we will continue our discussion of the word LIFELINE and how its significance relates to our Christian walk as Mothers of Nations. Let’s first look at the Word of God where we can find many people who needed a LIFELINE due to their circumstances.

Jonah:  He was saved from death by a large fish (whale).

The Israelites:  They were saved from the giant Goliath by David. He was just a shepherd boy at the time.

Rahab:  She helped save the Israelite spies and her family. (Joshua 2: 2-16) NKJV

And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, “Behold, men have come here tonight from the children of Israel to search out the country.” So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, “Bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all the country.”

Then the woman took the two men and hid them. So she said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they were from. And it happened as the gate was being shut, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went I do not know; pursue them quickly, for you may overtake them.” (But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order on the roof.) Then the men pursued them by the road to the Jordan, to the fords. And as soon as those who pursued them had gone out, they shut the gate.

Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roofand said to the men: “I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. 10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath. 12 Now therefore, I beg you, swear to me by the Lord, since I have shown you kindness, that you also will show kindness to my father’s house, and give me a true token, 13 and spare my father, my mother, my brothers, my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.”

14 So the men answered her, “Our lives for yours, if none of you tell this business of ours. And it shall be, when the Lord has given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with you.”

15 Then she let them down by a rope through the window, for her house was on the city wall; she dwelt on the wall. 16 And she said to them, “Get to the mountain, lest the pursuers meet you. Hide there three days, until the pursuers have returned. Afterward you may go your way.”

Mothers of Nations, when do we need a LIFELINE? Here are just a few examples that I have thought of and most likely, you will be able to relate to one or more of them.

  1. When loss after loss takes place in our life. This could include deaths of loved ones, loss of jobs, bankruptcy, health challenges, etc. In these situations it is encouraging to remember what Revelation 21: 4-5 tells us.

Revelation 21: 4-5

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”

  1. When it seems we have nothing to look forward to in our current life circumstances. Yet Matthew 19: 28-29 (NIV) encourages us with this.

Matthew 19: 28-29

28 Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.

  1. When we have lost everything. Though we have lost everything, we can be assured of the truth of His Word that says He restores everything.

Acts 3: 21 (NIV): 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

Next week we will conclude this discussion by considering our Ultimate Lifeline. Until then I pray you are blessed beyond measure through the love of our Lord Jesus Christ!
