Great Riches -- part 2

Uncategorized Feb 09, 2024

We will continue on with this topic of “Great Riches” today. If you did not read last week’s entry where we introduced the topic, why don’t you take a moment now to do that before you move on with this entry.

Let’s start off with the following scripture from Isaiah 45: 3 (NKJV). “I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord Who call you by your name, am the God of Israel.”

When God said that He would bless her (Sarah) richly, what did that actually mean and how does that relate to us? Today let’s start to explore some of these “riches” that we are blessed with as children of God.

UNSEARCHABLE RICHES

Ephesians 3: 8 (NKJV) – “To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.”

In the New Living Translation of this verse these unsearchable riches Paul calls the “endless treasures” available to us in Christ.

Unsearchable riches. What does this mean? Why don’t we start by looking at the definition of the word “unsearchable.”  It means:

  • Not capable of being searched.
  • Not lending itself to research.
  • Not able to be understood by searching.

Romans 11: 33-36 goes into a more extensive explanation of these endless treasures available to us in Christ.

33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! 34 “For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become His counselor?” 35 “Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him?” 36 For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.

Mothers of Nations, the Apostle Paul was amazed that God gave him this treasure to preach to the Gentiles. He didn’t feel that he deserved such a privilege.

How about us? Do you and I consider this a blessing to be able to preach and teach about the unsearchable riches of God? Do we truly realize that it is a privilege to share the wondrous gospel with others?

Why don’t we now spend a few moments thinking about these unsearchable riches. What are some examples of God’s unsearchable riches that come to mind? Here are just a few that I immediately thought of as I am writing this blog today.

  • These unsearchable riches are the provisions and the promises that we have in Christ Jesus.
  • These riches fill us, provide for us, and satisfy us beyond measure.
  • The richness of blessings of all we have in us because of Christ is unsearchable, immeasurable, and beyond full understanding.

In finishing this discussion about the unsearchable riches we have in Christ Jesus, let’s look at a few more scriptures.

Romans 2: 4 (NKJV) – “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” Here we see that the riches of His kindness, patience, and tolerance lead us to repentance.

Do we recognize how wonderfully kind, tolerant and patient God is with us?

Romans 9: 22-23 (NKJV)  “22 What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, 23 and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory.”

Wow! The riches of His glory shining on us, His children. The glory of the Lord being made known to us, His vessels most certainly demonstrates God’s unsearchable riches!

Romans 11: 33 (NKJV) – Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!”

How great are God’s riches of wisdom and knowledge. It’s impossible to understand His ways. It is unsearchable.

Next week we will continue to discuss more examples of the “great riches” we have as children of God. Have a blessed week!
