God-Given Vision -- part 3

Uncategorized Oct 27, 2023

We will continue this discussion of God-given vision today by looking at two more requirements. Let’s get started!

A vision requires faith.

Hebrews 11: 1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Mothers of Nations, we need to be like the Sons of Issachar who understood the times and seasons. We need:

  • Foresight: to look ahead
  • Insight: to understand now and later
  • Oversight: to see the whole picture

Certainly we are all aware that fear challenges faith.  So how should we respond to those fear attacks?  That’s right, we fight fear with faith!

Take the example of the twelve spies we read about in Numbers 12: 1-13 and Deuteronomy 1: 22-24.  Only two of these spies had faith! The others allowed themselves to only receive the eyesight of a grasshopper. They couldn’t see beyond their noses and therefore fear clouded the vision God had for them in the Promised Land.

Why don’t you take a moment right now to read these verses about the twelve spies. I believe you will understand in a greater measure how important faith is with God-given vision.

A vision requires the ability to write it down.

Habakkuk 2: 2-3 (NLT)

Then the Lord said to me, “Write My answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others. 3 This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.

I love what this Scripture passage says about vision.  See it, read it, embrace it, own it, relay it, and run with it!

Have you noticed that when we write something down, those thoughts become clearer?  I have certainly found that to be true in my life.  When I put my ideas and thoughts on paper I am able to visualize and clarify whatever it is I am thinking about or planning.

A written vision:

  • Avoids detours.
  • Eliminates distractions.
  • Helps us plan more effectively.
  • Gives us goals to set.
  • Helps us measure our progress.
  • Serves as a guide or map.

Let’s look at a few more Scriptures that give instruction regarding vision and God’s plans and assignments for us.

Proverbs 16: 3, 9  (NLT) -- 3 Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed.  9 We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

Proverbs 19: 21 (NLT) -- You can make many plans, but the Lord’s purpose will prevail.

Proverbs 24: 3-6 -- 3 A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. 4 Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables. 5 The wise are mightier than the strong, and those with knowledge grow stronger and stronger. 6 So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers.

So as we close today, what have we learned about God-given vision so far?

We plan but God leads.

We commit to action.

We align with the Lord to reach success.

We use wisdom.

Next week we will conclude our discussion on God-given vision. Mothers of Nations, have a blessed vision fulfilling week!
