Angels - part 5

Uncategorized Aug 04, 2023

As we conclude this series of blogs on the topic of angels, let’s share a few more interesting things about angelic beings. First, angels have been used to announce good news, battles coming, or births of babies.  An angel called Gabriel announced the birth of Jesus.  Angels came and ministered to Jesus after forty days and nights in the wilderness, and they also strengthened Him in the Garden of Gethsemane.  I remember once when after my husband and I came to the Lord, a minister and her husband prayed for us.  To this day I can remember how tall these people felt to me as they prayed.  Later I realized that angels were present there, strengthening us in a time of need.

Many years ago when we lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota, there was a truck-driving evangelist who came to our town one year and called my husband Bill on the phone.  Bill was coaching high school football at that time and the local newspaper had written an article about us saying that Bill was known as a “tosser of Bibles” as well as footballs!

This evangelist saw the article and wanted an opportunity to minister to all the teenagers in Bill’s school.  My husband had never met anyone as bold as this man before and was not sure what this evangelist would say or do.  So Bill went to prayer and asked God if he should have a meeting for this weight-lifting evangelist, 62 years old, who drove a semi-truck and who called himself “Brother Roy.”

When Bill picked up his Bible as he was praying, it fell open to Hebrews 13:1-2 which read,  “Let brotherly love continue.  Do not neglect to entertain strangers, for by doing so, some have unwittingly entertained angels unaware.”  (NKJV)  Reading that Word, Bill could not say no!

We made plans for that meeting and many others followed. Through Brother Roy, and the angelic assistance he brought, many of our friends got saved.  Football coaches and an athletic director were touched by God and our whole neighborhood heard the gospel.  When angels come, so does the presence of the Lord and supernatural assistance to affect lives. Those meetings initiated great spiritual growth in many people and our whole area was changed for the glory of God.

Once I was visiting with a young man from the Middle East who told me a story of how he was caught in a building where a bomb went off.  He and one other man were saved in the bombing.  In shock, and not fully understanding what happened, a bright light came and escorted him and another man through the dust, debris and danger to a safe location outside the building rubble.  This young man knew that it was a miracle he lived and that certainly it was an angel that led the two of them out of the structure.  God had spared his life through the help of His angels.

This topic of angels is vast and we have only just scratched the surface through this series of blogs.  Perhaps the Lord has spoken to you about studying more about His angelic beings.  I pray this discussion has been of value to you and blessed your life.
